i8 video with Display Key (from Concours edition)

Inside EVs has a video posted which looks to be an official BMW video from Pebble Beach. It showcases the i8 Concours d'Elegance Edition, details of that i8, the Display Key (for a short bit), the Louis Vuitton luggage, and other details.

Also included footage of the 30 Jahre M5 and the Vision Future Luxury concept.

Thanks to my source for the info

Here's the article:

Wow it looks cooler than I thought. It's really slim (easily fitting in a trouser pocket) and not too larger either. Good find

Off-topic I know, but do we know anything about the Vision Future Luxury concept? Looks like a hybrid version of a futuristic 7 series.

Yeah, the Display Key is pretty sleek. It was never shown with a reference point to anything before, except the i8 dash, so it looked huge.

On the Vision Future Luxury Concept, here's the official thread that was posted when it had it's debut in China earlier this year:
http://bmwi.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...+future+luxury

It's a preview for the next 7er ... That interior is but I don't think it will make it to production

But freeze video and check again. Compare to your hand also. I think it is still huge! Twice the size of ordinary i8 key. Not thicker though, about the same. I'd still prefer it since I can't download i Remote app in my home country, at least it says I have to be in US in order to download. With DK using remote services would be easier.

You can change your country in itunes or the phone's settings to another, download the app, then change back.

Good point.

It's definitely larger but not huge. I'd say, after comparing my key fob in my hand, it's maybe 25% wider and 30-40% taller.. which fits in with, twice the size . Does not seem very thick, I agree.

Acceptable, I think. Or, worth it, at least...

Wish we could see one side by side with a regular key. BMW should really release a video showcasing this key but instead they are being quiet about it.

Thanks, I have to try it. Usually all these simple tricks don't work in iDevices so I didn't even try...

I'd prefer DK over ordinary key for sure, no problem, cool thing. Dunno how much it weights.

I forgot to say that my dealer came back to me on the Display Key query and he said BMW UK have confirmed that the Display Key will be coming at some point, but they haven't given any indication as to when that may be. ...So that still leaves me unsure whether to take delivery in December, or ask BMW to push my order back to March which might result in me getting a Display Key.

Good news sounds like the info is aligned with what we've been seeing/hearing here. It's a gamble though because you don't know if it will be available by March.

I'd just get the car so you can drive it already and then just buy the Display Key. Or see if the dealer will throw it in.

As much as I love the Display Key, I don't think it's worth holding up an order for 3-4 months and then still have no guarantee of it being available.

I know you have some UK specific things with the registration, though, so if that's a factor then it makes more sense.

Agreed, I even tried to get it written into my contract that should the Display Key become available that they discount it (fully or partially) if I take the car early. But the dealer couldn't commit to that, instead just writing in the contract that I had the right to amend my order if the Display Key (and Laser Lights) became available.

My car was pushed back to Feb-15 so I had got used to the idea of taking it then (or rather in March due to the registration change). Plus there were a couple of (personal) reasons why taking delivery in March may prove more beneficial than taking it in December... decisions, decisions LOL.

I tried now, it's pretty complex. I have to wipe out my account first since card details don't fit wrong country. Then set up a new account somehow and try again. I could see i Remote app in search results but I could not download it due discrepancy in account details. I changed all the setting to US-mode but still failure. I just have to give up now. Maybe it works later on.

Perhaps And to add with, my bank sent me SMS early morning that someone from location "internet" tried to use my CC last night for a payment of 0,00 euros. They asked if I know something about that.

Sorry about that, man.

I was trying to buy your i8, but I was a little bit optimistic with the amount.... won't happen again!
