Part number for the case is 82292365436.

Not sure about the manual though but to be honest I don't really think that I'll need one.

I am booked in for Friday to have my display key fitted. Hopefully it will all go to plan.

Check further up the thread. I posted copies of the pages from the smart key 'manual'. By the page numbering it seems to be extracts from an updated version of the full i8 manual. BMW just gave me the photocopies when I picked the car up after the key retrofit.

Just realised the resolution was a bit rubbish. Here's another attempt:

Talking New information for USA i8 owners!

Just got off the phone with my iGenius in Louisville KY - he states that the part number is listed for my 2016 and he can order it, but the recode "keys" have not been released by BMWUSA. He did say it was in the works - he will let me know as soon as it is available.

Had key fitted to my march 15 i8 - cost was £600 plus 150 fitting - took them 7 hours to fit Bluetooth module and recode car - all software in modules updates - surprisingly getting 3-4 mpg better average 44 vs 40 prior to upgrades.

Also any qi charger will charge key - got a cheap £6 one from amazon - works great to keep key charged

Hmm I wonder why you would get better gas mileage...

I think the mpg increase he's referring to are to do with the 'suite' of software updates, not just those relating to the key ;-)

Haven't noticed any increases myself, but must admit the car does feel a bit different since mine was in and all the updates were applied. Less hesitancy pulling off under a light throttle in electric mode than before (I used to switch it over to sport at junctions it was so bad) but also a bit less go for the same throttle position in comfort mode - as if throttle has been remapped. No impact on outright performance, just need to adjust to the new map.

It may just be that all computers got reset. I certainly drive more efficiently now than when I got the car, simply because I understand it better.

I have Mont Blanc products but I think I wouldn't pay for it either , too expensive for a key holder

Anything?? Sometimes knowing something can be so frustrating! I hate when a product gets introduced only to be "in the works" or "coming soon" I'd rather not know about or teased and just introduce something that is ready and working!!

Well isn't the entire i8 introduction like that....it was a total cluster......didn't even know what's on the 2014 model and what one rcan retrofit, like CA, Smart Key, etc.....

I bought the same one

Ordered it at 22:28 last night (Saturday) and it arrived at my home at 10:15 this morning (Sunday) ... wow!

I have a question though. I placed my key on it, and the LED turned from red to green BUT is not flashing green (per the manual, to indicate charging).

And it has stayed green for hours since then.

What does your do?

A quick update. I realised my key was probably nearly fully charged, so may have not been charging.

I deliberately used up some battery by switching on the display repeatedly. Then tried again.

The charger now shows both red & green lights flashing. The key shows it is charging. But I am curious what yours does zagaboo, as the charger manual states only the green LED should be on and flashing?

UPDATE: after a few minutes (when I looked again) the green LED only was flashing. After about an hour, it turned to solid green again i.e. not as per the manual. But the DisplayKey was fully charged, so it is working.

I guess the manual is just wrong

Indeed the manual is wrong! Mine behaves exactly as you described. A few reviews on Amazon suggested the same, so I expected it. Glad you worked it out in the end ;-)
