Question on wider 20" wheels (Ferrada FR8)

Shot Ferrada an email asking if they had any FR8 models available, what the center bore was and if they had a recommended or tested fitting for the i8.

Anyhow, here is what they have:

Quote:
FR8 fitment is 20X9 et 35 & 20x10 et40 / weight for 20X9 is 24 lbs, 20x10 is 27 lbs
Stock i8 (Style 470 anyhow) is:
Front: 7.5X20 et40
Rear: 8.5X20 et50

So

Front
7.5" ET40 to 9" ET35
14mm less INNER clearance
23mm extended OUTER clearance

Rear 8.5" ET50 to 10" ET40:
9mm Less INNER clearance
29mm extended OUTER clearance

Hmm, I see people taking about crazy sizes here but in the real world I live in, with pot holes and speed ramps, I have to ensure they don't rub when the suspension does its job. 29mm on the rear is way out to the arch (as is 23mm on front). 14mm on the front inside is real close to the brakes too.

Anyone have similar sizes (on stock suspension) and can comment or ideally show a photo?

PS: Any other reasonably priced options that look similar but weigh less? These actually weigh more than stock.
PPS: They sent an update:

Center Bore 66.56
No rubbing issues and we have tested those wheels on that car before.

You will be fine, My specs were 21x9 with a +33 and 21x10.5 with +50.

If you want a light set you will have to go full forged IMO you should but they will be double + in regards to $$$ pricing but hey its a 1xxK car

Garage List
2015 BMW i8  [10.00]
1970 Porsche 914-6  [0.00]
2018 BMW i3s REx  [0.00]
Im getting close to needing to purchase a new set of tires for my i8.
I like the original factory wheels just fine but would like a little more rubber on the ground.
Have you considered or has anyone installed 245/40X20 on the front replacing the 215/45X20 and 285/35x20 on the rear replacing the 245/40X20. The replacement tires are almost exactly the same diameter and side wall height as the original tires but are about 1 inch wider.

Thanks! Any recommendations for full forged for the i8? Just so I can compare.

I did the fronts, they're now the same width as the rears. Clearance is tight but no issues (there's a post further back with pictures).
Steering is a little heavier which I like and it has reduced under-steer but the torque of the front motor will still break traction before the back unless you're a hooligan and want to flick the back out first

I have 245/40 X20 on front and 285/35 X 20 on the back. Not on original rims though.
Works great and looks awesome.

Pictures? Any details on the width and offset? I feel I need some extra tyre fatness to save from kerbing (the i8 seems quite wide as is..).

Have a look in this thread...

http://bmwi.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1433193

It covers my 245 upgrade on the front, standard rims. plenty of pics and feedback to digest.

Thanks, good thread, though I was more questioning wider wheels plus wider tyres, not wider tyres on stock. Looks like it would be fine on the inside, Im stil a little concerned on the outside (rubbing into arch).

I like to stick with the big well known brands, like HRE, ADV.1, MHT, but there is plenty out there.. good luck on your search

Avant Garde and VS Forged both have fully forged wheels that are in the low 20 lb range. Shoot me a pm or an email and I can help you find the perfect set.
