Rock chips all collecting in one spot?
I've noticed on my i8 that one particular section on my front bumper seems to get ALL of the rock chips. I've attached a picture that shows which panel I'm referring to since I don't have a picture of my car off-hand. No where else on the bumper or anywhere else really seems to get rock chips, only this one small area and only on that passenger side of the car, not the opposite driver side. Any idea why? My only guess is that I'm usually always in the fast lane (left lane in the U.S.) so they only ever hit the right side, but then why are there no chips anywhere else on the right side? And finally, what's the best way to deal with this? Re-paint the whole bumper and clear bra that one area or the bumper? It could also be worth noting that the i8 is my daily driver, as well.

I've never really seen a dark-colored car where you can't see the edges of a clear bra install once you get within 10 feet of the car, especially in direct sunlight. Seen work from a few of the best installers in DFW with clear bras on a 458, huracan, 720s, etc.... can always see the edges

I would have to disagree that the clear bra looks worse than rock chips.
New Xpel material is nearly invisible on a crystal white car and never yellows. Looks great and is much less expensive and value decreasing than a repaint. You need to find an experienced installer. Last edited by Coastali8; 12-30-2017 at 10:07 PM.. |
