Key fob poor design?

Am I the only one that has problems with their key fob in their pocket? When there, it is pressed by keys in my pocket and invariably the trunk unlocks. This occurs when I'm in the car. Once, the alarm was triggered while driving. I think the buttons are too exposed as well as well as easily pressed. I've had many other BMWs and never had this issue. I also have another BMW and it uses the usual fob and is much harder to press.

This issue has been reported by a number of i3 users... I have heard of some folks purchasing the blue BMW i key cover and putting it on back to front to help shield the buttons from accidental pressing.

The other alternative (if you have one) is to use the display key which doesn't suffer from these issues in my experience.

I believe the cover is this one:

My solution is to use a nylon cable tie as the key ring and ordering the next key ring neighborhood on that side to reduce the likelihood of accidental pressing, e.g. attaching a electronic key toggle or some other large round object next tonthat side of the i8 remote.

I put the key in the small change / condom pocket on my jeans. No problems.

I had this problem on my i3. For what it's worth, I had this problem on my M3. I stopped carrying both fobs and that seemed to create more room in my jeans to not accidentally hit buttons. None of my other cars ever had this problem, bmw fob buttons overall don't have enough resistance IMHO. Fob pouch works since it's all comfort access anyway.
