This is interesting as their's no comments on the i3s. Does this mean their's no interest in the i3 any more. Tesla's sales are down up to 22% last month and does this show EV sales has had its run?

While I like the i3, it's around 60k and you only get 100 miles per charge. BMW needs to put at least a 50kWh battery before it can start becoming a real contender in the ev world.

I've come to my conclusion after owing my BMW 225xe for 20 months. There is no logic in buying a BEV as the extra purchase cost and charging hassles are more than solved by my 225xe. I can travel a distance non stop of 500k on a minimum of 50% battery (250k) and never have to stop to charge. Time is money and having to stop to charge with their long waiting times involved no thanks

It's too expensive, range isn't very good, and for me there is almost no aftermarket for it at all (wheels, suspension, etc). Otherwise I'd probably have one in my garage.

Yes you've talked about your car multiple times. The i3 still outsells it and even less people talk about the 225xe.

I am about to purchase one following the sale of my 2015 428i M Sport.

However, I am going to buy a used i3. These cars drop dramatically in value; not sure why.

Lots of truth in saying they are far overpriced for the range, but with my short commute, wife driving the X5, I'm buying it for a city car for at or under $20K in Tera World trim. A good number of used ones to choose from; particularly of you don't mind shipping from California where there are dozens.

I'll be getting a Certified Pre-Owned from a BMW dealership somewhere.

Depreciation is much more than lease RFs. Leases are the better deal than even a used i3.

They depreciate so much for the same reason that other 'Electronics/Gadgets' depreciate.

As soon as a Computer/TV/SmartPhone is released, its already obsolete... unfortunately.

I have an i3s BEV after owning a 2014 Rex for over three years. The S is a huge improvement. The handling and stability is so much better than my previous i3, let alone the added power. The good thing about the power is it's really noticeable were the i3 needed it, over 40 mph. It was always quick as heck on the low end, but it flattened out over 50 mph, and the S doesn't do that at all - even all the way up to the 100 mph top speed.

An all around huge improvement, and I'm seeing over 100 miles per charge in the winter, so I know I'll probably average 120 - 130 miles per charge once it warms up.

Don't care as I'm not follower I believe in logic. The 225xe is with Tesla on sales for November.

Logic would tell you that your car in a hybrid while the i3 is an electric. They are different cars with different purposes and you constant insistence that the 225xe is the superior car will continue to be true for you, but might be false for others because we all have different needs. Besides, the 330e is a hybrid that we can actually get here in the US, not the 225xe.

I'm happy to change my views if any of you guys can show me a better savings. Who cares about pollution as we buy products produced in China.

Please share your meaning that a new leased i3 is better than used?

I don't drive strippers, so the i3 with the build I'd take New is around $55K MSRP. Terra World, Tech, drive asst, etc.

A used BEV may cost $22K on the high end based on what I've seen so far.

Have a month or so to decide, so I am open to hearing the EV purchase philosophy of others.

Must say that the S trim makes the car very attractive.

Funny how this car has grown on me so much in the past few years. Still think the Prius and Leaf both look like junk.

If I go new, the S in Red or Blue are awesome along with your black one.

I don't have to change your views because your situation is different than mine. The difference between you and me is that you don't realize this and I do. But here's MY situation:

$7500 fed tax credit, $2500 state rebate. SCE $450 rebate. 2 years free charging from BMW through EVgo and ChargePoint. That means no matter what mileage your gas burning hybrid gets, it can't beat the cost of fuel for me, which is $0.

We don't receive any of this as New Zealand works on user pays and if it doesn't work then it's gone. What we have in turn is mostly free education and medical care.
New Zealand is a country of limited regulations to keep our freedom. Even Police usually don't carry guns and the only gun we are allowed is a single shot riffle in a very limited situation this also includes having a knife with you in public. This gives us the freedom to be safe.
Why I said all above is we tend to like debates and be very open with discussions.

I'm very open to constructive debate, but when you keep ignoring the simple fact that not everyone has the same needs, it's not very constructive. It's clear you are in the i3 forums to troll i3 owners and justify your own decision to get your car. Now you want to troll Americans because we are having problems. How noble of you to use a tragedy to make a point about cars.

And as a backup, in case going 1.2 miles to the DC fast charger exceeds my momentary laziness, I have 15 Sunpower 360 watt (Philippine made) panels on my roof. Here in California, we're not allowed to keep our own fuel at home. I believe you're earlier argument was "Time is Money". I'm filling up at home right now.
side note: for having bicycle tires, it handles pretty good.

Honestly, i've never pictured BMW so small. It's not bad, just the size doesn't match my expectations for a BMW car.

Seriously? You must be new to the brand?

Until maybe 20 years ago, BMW was only known for producing small, fast, and precise cars with powerful engines.

The i3 looks more BMW than most of the whale cruisers they sale today.
