I could care less about the spider version I like metal above my head in case of a rollover. But it looks awesome and capable of driving in the snow. BMW keep it up and push the i8 to its technical limits.

If they had made performance mods, why wouldn't they state that there too? |

I managed to get some time with the engineers on the factory tour last year and they told me that it will be a soft top that will be stored in the area where the rear seats are. There will be some storage space in there too but the rear seats will be gone.
They also mentioned how the front air vent in the bonnet (or "hood" for my American friends) needed adjustment since it if they left it as is, the warm airflow coming through would end up passing over the windscreen hitting the driver/passenger when the roof is down. The pics seem to show this modification too. Additionally expect a battery improvement giving up to 60 km / 40 miles on e-drive for the coupe (maybe a bit less for the convertible due to additional weight). |

Deal breaker for me. Say what you want about weight savings, I just don't like soft-tops. It ruins the flow, which is a huge part of the i8.

The camo is pretty much meaningless. Why bother?

There is always the aftermarket. im sure companies would gladly make carbon panels in place of the softtop.

For me though, the loss of rear seats mean it is not an option for me. I've found my rear i8 seats to be extremely useful, making me use the i8 a lot more than I would have used it otherwise. |

Looks good. But still has skinny tires.
