Front License plate - lost at +140mph

After returning home from a longer drive on the motorway with +140mph I noted that my front lisence plate was gone...

The two screws holding the license plate have been ripped out of the thin plastic carrier which is mounted on the car.

Fortunately the plate has slided underneath the car and did not cause any damage to the chassis or windshield.

As I don't need to have this experience anymore I fixed the new plate holder with 4 screws to the carrier. Hope that does it.

How happy people in countries whitout front license plate requirements must be!

Requirements are more of a...suggestion.

I haven't had one in 15 months.

I still have the dealership sticker on my windshield. Hopefully, that will give the impression that it's a new car. But then, I think that it's mostly luck that one doesn't get caught.

Plate? What plate....no front plates for these cars and never had a problem...been stopped before because they admired the car and not one word about no front plates right here in NY USA

Missing front plate

Been stopped in several sates throughout the USA ( not really proud of that) in numerous cars without a front license plate ( never had one on any of the cars I’ve owned) over a lifetime of driving. And have only been sited once for no front plate. On that occasion it was for over 100 mph on the freeway after about a 20 mile chase ( because I didn’t know he was back there) The officer was rather upset and I was just glad he didn’t impound my car and take me to jail. Easy fix for the front plate. Just double sided mirror tape and cut off screw heads glued into the plate holes to look like it was screwed on ( I’d never drill holes for screws in a car), and a trip to the highway patrol to sign it off, then....off with the plate!

Those holes do look like the screws were very flimsy. Unsure if that's standard on German cars. I've been to Germany a number of time with mine (and yes, I always floor it for as much as I can). Never had an issue with the front plate. But the Swiss ones are a lot smaller.
