i3 drive event!

We got to test drive the i3 3 times!

Great driving experience!
Great design!
There was quite a bit wind noise... I like that is all electric.. I'll give it a 4.8 out of 5... If they fix the wind noise it would be a perfect city electric car!

Could you isolate where that wind noise was coming from? Mirrors, a leaking seal on the door(s)? This is the first comment I'd heard relating to that, and it may have been the vehicle. Were you in the same vehicle each time?

I'd guess that some of that was because there is no ICE noises to mask it.

I heard it from the windows and doors... Kind if all over above 55mph... I felt like I was in my f30... Noisy... I drove 2 different i3... Both cars had less than 1k miles... I don't think they should've done that...

Interesting...my dealer's i3 test drives aren't until May...guess they are slowly moving north as the weather is getting better. I'll have to see for myself.

My biggest concern is still getting in. I'm pretty sure there's enough room once inside, but I do not bend very well anymore, and need a decent sized height from the seat to the roof and door opening, and many vehicles have a pretty large lip to the roof there...okay once in, but do it more than a few times, and it really hurts to bend far enough to get in. I'd really like it to work for me, as over 90% of my driving is short distances, and I do not like all of those cold starts on my ICE; I'll save it for those longer trips, or where I need to carry more things or people.

I did a test drive about a month ago and found it eerie because of the quietness. I took it up to [beyond the highway limit] on the highway and did not notice a pronounced or otherwise notable wind noise. You hear a bit of wind and motor whine but not a great deal. More than a big Mercedes or a Rolls Royce perhaps but for the boxy little car it is not bad.

Drove one today: love it! Quiet (didn't notice any wind noise) and super easy to get in and out of the car.

I found it very easy to drive. The torque is great. Just press on the gas and the car moves without seeking for gears (all electric cars are like this). The electric motor breaking power is also great and you really don't need to press the brakes for the car to stop. There is a lot of room inside for front passengers. I am 6'2" and I felt more comfortable than on my 5 series. iDrive is super easy to use. Because of it's size, parking on a crowded city is a breeze. It also looks pretty appealing on the mustard or zinc color. The other colors are not as good in my opinion.

The things I disliked: nothing, really. This is a (A) two-people (B) luxury (C) city car. If people understand this clear concept then they would not complain about (1) back seat/trunk space, (2) price, (3) range.

Our family of two drives a 2013 528i (lease end in 2 years) and we are planning to get a X5 next month. When the 528i lease ends I will probably buy this car. Unless, of course, Tesla come up with a cheaper addition to their line-up.

thanks for your reply, we are thinking about adding an i3 to the family soon and value your input to help with our decision. i'm impressed by what you said about that it feels like the size of a 5 series (love that) and the great torque. so far your likes out weigh your dis likes. thanks for your opinion

It's a great car! Like really! Feels comfortable and feels safe and very unique! I would buy it! Just test drive at high speeds to ensure there's not wind noise... Love the i3!
