Hardwiring radar detector?

Has anyone hardwired a Valentine One (or any detector) into an i8? Thanks.

Easy. There is the cigarette lighter socket under the glove compartment. I just hooked my Vue camera.

Sorry to dig up an old thread. Do you have pictures? I want to see what location they mounted it and how snug the wires are hidden.

I have my Escort Passport Max and it's plugged in to the cigarette lighter underneath the passenger side glovebox but now I can't reach the mute button. Thinking I should just hardwire, using a blendmount underneath the rearview mirror, and then mounting the mute button underneath my driver side somewhere...

Thank you

I have a full custom installed 9500ci with the display mounted under my rearview, controller by the light switches, speaker unit under the seat, radar detector module mounted outside in the middle of the front bumper and laser shifter mounted next to that on each side. I don't think it can get any more "hardwired" than that. Installation took about 4 hours, same as in my M6. No extra difficulties with the i8.

I'll jump in. So, I have a brand new Escort 360 Max. Safe to install by tapping into the rear view mirror? The BMW service advisor encouraged me not to install, claiming that it could have a negative affect on the electronics in the car.

That said, I've never really felt confident my advisor knew what he was talking about.
