I have many questions... like, do you guys even charger your batteries or do you let the sport more regenerate it all?

Congrats, your car is hybrid and it's plug in hybrid . I frequently charge the car using plug in method ,it's more efficient than charging up the batteries using Sport Mode
Mine is set at Low , you can change it from the menu , just about 3.5 hours and it gives me enough battery range for 12 kilometers .
Some guys plug it in overnight ,I haven't tried that though

Congrats! I loved the silver too it was hard picking a color on this car. Pics please!

I thought the silver and white picked up the black and ionic blue contrasts better. But everything I see another i8 in another color I always thinking about wrapping it lol. You really can't go wrong with any of the factory colors.

Is your question more or less trying to find out if you drive it in Sport 24/7 and no electric mode at all, is there a need to even plug it in and charge?

Well good because that is my question too lol. I should be taking delivery of my i8 next week and I was pondering this as well. According to what I was told - you absolutely can just drive it in Sport mode 24/7 without plugging it in to charge. But I would like some real world owner feedback.

I've had my i8 for two weeks so I'm still getting used to the car. I plug it in every night to have full battery available. Drive it in Comfort mode in the city for short trips and Sport mode to haul ass in the highway. The battery recharges itself on Sport mode mostly when coasting and braking so no so good in the highway. So far I'm getting decent range but I've seen posts of people here getting more. I guess I'm still in the break in period, only 600 miles.

That's the way I charge it/drive it too. I have put 9,000 awesome miles on this awesome car (2015, got it new). Gotta admit that the most fun is tearing up on an on ramp to the highway and watching jaws drop. You hit 100mph before you know it.

Your charging and driving style will depend on how green you want to be.

If you just stayed in sports mode, you're likely to average about 30-35mpg. But then, there are others (like me), who also use it for normal commutes, rush hour, etc. In such situations, we use it as a plug-in hybrid because sports mode isn't very useful.

As you'll see in other threads, we sometimes go over 1000 miles before refueling, 10 gallons!

In other words, use it as you like

I always plug it in when I'm home (I've got 2 normal 13 amp outlet chargers and a 30 amp rapid), fuel prices in the UK means it makes sense to charge and run on electric as often as you can - 16 mile pure ev range for me. No point burning petrol/gasoline to charge a battery when moving slowly in traffic.

When the conditions improve, I usually run in sport mode, shifting manually for the dramatic sound effects Overall MPG is 48 at the moment...

Point of interest, one of the technical manuals I read states that the car isn't supposed to 'fully' charge using the on-board generators, not sure if it's for technical reasons or just trying to persuade you to plug it in. Anyone tried to get to 100% charge when on the move?
