BMW i8 Paint

Does the I8 have special paint on the car because it feels gummy almost as if there is a clear plastic on the paint. My car is brand new and has a white spot on the black trim where it has i8 logo on the rear. I just want to be sure it is normal paint that can be polished.

Can you post a picture so we can see the white stuff?

Kinda hard to see maybe it can buff off. Could have got something on it. Sorry can't help as can't really see it properly.

I rubbed some polish gently with my finger and the marks came off the car. The panels just feel very soft so I wanted to make sure there was no special coating on the paint.

The panels (most anyway) are polycarbonate (or some other type of plastic) and are bolted to the strong bits underneath like the main frame or carbon tub hence they feel flexible. I'm hoping this means the chances of parking dents are diminished as the panels are flexible and should bounce back - plus there's nothing to rust!!

Glad you have gotten it off. I'd be very careful with polishing compound on those panels. They're made of plastic and may scratch rather than shine when polished.
