I must say I am surprised that a car this far up in the BMW food chain uses the 8 inch idrive screen rather than the larger one in the 6 and 7

It just looks small. For all I know I suppose it could be the larger unit.

I think you're saying that because the steering wheels look so similar!

I like it but I don't understand why they would cover the BMW badge? Everyone knows it is a BMW interior. Go fig

i8 and other things new

As impressive as this is, I am concerned about BMW's new obsession with electric vehicles at the expense of their core product: vehicle performance and dynamics.

As an M car fan, I see a lack of focus on this key brand quality as they push to a more generalist approach to their product similar to what AMG was while ironically AMG is becoming the new M.

I have no doubt the i brand vision is a good one, but surely it can exist alongside am ultimate driving machine sister product that is the BMW heartland.

I think it's great, they have to be on top of electric cars.
M is there as always.
BMW can also make Mi8 :-) with fake interior sounds(like M5) n probably a BOSE outdoor speaker on rear....lol

me too. since you no longer put the key into a slot on most of their cars now a days. lets just move the start stop next to the shifter already!

+1 agreed, I noticed that as well. Small touch but makes perfect sense and another differentiation.

I would see a lack of "focus" as well with the design of the 318, if I was one sighted.

It is all about perspective however we will see in sales..

Tesla set the new standard for in car electronics/screen/center stack. This isn't even in the same ballpark. Agree it looks more Civic than bleeding edge innovative,
