Thought half the population in the US drove pick up trucks not exactly the most beautiful way to travel. I'm prepared to wait to see the interior before passing a view. For city work its designed to meet what most of the world needs. Compact design, easy to park, doesn't get dented due to carbon fibre plastic, easy to get in and out as no tunnel on the floor, great acceleration 7 secs to 60, no city taxes in those parts of the world that have them, suicide rear doors are neat, low servicing costs, low/no running costs especially if you charge from solar , 20 inch wheels will make it look good they are an option, standard navigation, no long list of options as standard kit will be good, handling will be fantastic as low centre of gravity- see the test mule video, there is no m sport that's missing the point of the car but there will be three trim options. It's also a different driving experience no gears, little need to use brakes for normal driving as the recharging effect slows the car. Rex version can charge the battery if you run out of charge.

I hear BMW will offer some great deals.

Expect they will be very popular if the Suez Canal gets blocked!

I personally find the I3's aesthetic much more appealing than a Nissan Leaf or Chevy Volt. In fact it is one of the better looking small MPVs out there to my eye - gasoline, electric or otherwise. Perhaps that sounds like faint praise, but I do think it manages to look good for what it is. I suppose I would say the same of the upcoming 1 Series MPV as well. And unlike that vehicle, we have to remember that the I3 is RWD, so in theory it could be a fun little car.

Why oh why do energy efficient cars have to look so ugly! The only car company not doing that is Tesla! BMW is a great company, but Tesla totally eats the i3 for lunch. Hopefully the future i series cars will look better (I am rooting for the i8)

How many cars do Tesla have up for sale at $ 45000? You should compare the i8 will Tesla? The i3 is a city car.

Most electric cars are very compact in an effort to be as lightweight as possible, and compact cars sacrifice low slung looks and long flowing features and proportions in the name of space efficiency.

these.. I don't understand either. Why can't it look like a normal car??

I think people will still buy this because of the BMW emblem but gosh they could've done better.

While I agree that the Tesla is the better looking car, we should be fair and consider that the Tesla is also (likely) more than twice the price of this thing. Scott recently posted a design sketch of the coming i5, I remember it looking much better than the i3. Id find the link for you if I wasnt posting frommy phone

Someone with a non-biased, open mind, that can see the big picture. It's a city car that should do that well - good room, decent carrying capacity, reasonable handling, smaller size to sneak into parking spaces others have to pass by, decent creature comforts and, in many places, tax and fee benefits verses driving a 'normal' car. If you can't see that, I'm sorry for you. Nobody's forcing you to buy one.

In europe arent car makers only allowed a certain co2 emissions across their brand or something like that? So with these electric cars now they can start making gas hungry, environment eating awesome cars again?

Yes, that's right. 2015 BMW has to reach the target of 138 g/km. But it's only the beginning.

The plans for the next decade are in discussion. So far, BMW's target for 2020 is 100 g/km. If a car maker fails to reach the target, it has to pay 95 EUR for every g CO2 over target and for every sold car. I read in an article, that BMW would have to pay around 500 million euros with their 2011 models. This should make it clear that, especially car makers with a lot of luxury models, must expand their product range.

I would imagine being RWD, and with tires that narrow you could have some fun on a wet street.

Yeah... I'll take a Cadillac ELR, or better yet - Pony up the extra 10K for a Model S.
