Great looking, but I wish the balance was more towards performance and less for efficiency. Perhaps something like that will emerge later.

Great article with many more beautiful pictures. I can't wait to do a proper photoshoot of an i8 someday!

Agreed, imagine if the power behind this was more inline with the new P1, LaFerrari, and 918. I think the looks can support it.

I would hope this car is the first step toward something more like the McLaren P1 or the Porsche 918...

I saw an i8 last week in this color driving on the road in my town. Absolutely gorgeous. Really Stunning.
Also, I doubt BMW will be making anything close to a P1 or 918 anytime soon. In fact, my prediction is that BMW has name framed the "i" lineup with the i3 and the i8. I suspect more models to fall in between to make the technology more accessible.

Probably for a couple reasons.
A) The needed an evolution of the angel eye to go with their evolution of car design. i.e. not putting a 10+ year into the past design feature in a car that looks like it's 10+ years into the future. B) The conventional projector base design of the headlight assembly is no longer centered around shapes C) The new lights look a lot better Back on topic, those photos make a good case for Protonic Blue. But I'm still going Sophisto Grey. |

And make it cost 7 times as much? There's a reason why those new super cars cost around 900.000-1.000.000 € and the i8 costs 120.000€...

This will be a very hard car to buy! Its priced right (IMO), offers a very unique look, and BMW just won't make enough of them to fill requests.

Still, BMW needs a halo car, I don't see this car as worthy of a halo car. |

I'm willing to bet, that if you see a P1, LaFerrari, 918 Spyder, and an i8 together (taking into account that they will provide more aggressive styling), that this will not be your eye catcher. The platform itself, although i'm sure versatile, wasn't built specifically for the purpose of track performance. Performance comes in different flavors, as far as a performance hybrid it is, but a hypercar it will not ever be based on the i8. Think of it as the successor to the 8-series but hybridized.
