How do these mods affect the aerodynamics? What are the data?

Love the front lip spoiler and I especially love the rear diffuser. But those wheels just don't do it for me. The jaggedness of the wheels don't go with the flow of the car in my opinion.

Vorsteiner runs CFD on all their aero product. The i8 front spoiler will increase down force on the front Wheels and diffuser will help diffuser air on the under tray

Here are some examples of it being tested on the Porsche Gt4 that i had off hand

Can you please clarify what that means?

I presume it means "no wind tunnel testing", but they run a computer simulation? If so, I consider it meaningless.

Yea CFD "computed fluid dynamics "

It's just a tool, we use it here in our company, but you can't beat the wind tunnel, we find after all our CFD tests that after the wind tunnel testing in Texas the same one NASA uses we find all sorts of things we can improve on but it comes with a heavy cost! The other things we test is wind coming from the sides and from different angles because that's the real world vs just the front as it has a very big impact on the car and how it handles, I don't know if they test that, but it makes a difference.

CFD is a nice way to help get past the sniff test, but also its another way that aftermarket companies make a sell to the public, same way as others say "CAD" designed facia, it not a big deal in this day in age but at least it's symmetrical vs. hand modeled, so it has its benefits if used properly. Running tests in CFD is one thing but depending how skilled your aero team is will dictate how good your design really is. Just saying its run through CFD doesn't mean anything. What would impress me more is getting to know the aero team they employed or hired and what race cars or production cars they worked on? That will give me more of a warm fuzzy feeling than slapping a CFD sticker on it.

THIS! Thank you!
Problem is, most of these companies would go broke if they actually wind tunnel tested their claimed aero components.
Like you said, CFD can give you an idea, but it probably cant replace a tunnel yet.

And computer modelling requires a starting point of an accurately modelled i8. Which is something only BMW are likely to have available.

In conclusion, like other aero packages, this does look good BUT is just as likely to make the aero worse as it is better. Waste of money unless you just do it for the looks.

The front aero isn't terrible, but it isn't great either.

The wheels do not improve the exterior aesthetics at all. They appear uninspired on the i8.

If you are going to put aftermarket wheels on a car that looks like it's from space, the rims should not look flat and add nothing visually.

Overall this is just not a great effort.

So the "aero" package may help or hurt aerodynamics. And if we want to know the price we PM you and you decide what the price is for each of us.

Thanks. I've made my decision.
