Letter from BMW - get free software upgrade
FYI - got a letter from BMW NA today (see attachment), inviting to arrange a free dealer software update appointment.
I'll pass, since i don't want to waste more time reprogramming the car to my liking. If you are tempted or curious, feel free to print it out and use it to extract a complimentary software update from your dealer. a

Mine goes in Thursday!
Just completed 640 mile road trip. Those who say i3 is just a city car - ha (as long as you have the software fix to enable Rex at 75%)

Quite simple really.
As started as have the ability to enable Rex so, I leave on full charge, force Rex at 75% charge. You can't enable any earlier. The down side of having a 1.9 gal tank is gassing up every 60-70 miles depending on how you drive and the overall elevations on your journey. BUT, I can top off tank adding about 2.2 gallons if I run the tank 'empty'. I finally reached the 6% SOC about 150 miles left in my journey but the Rex kept up. On my last trip of 600 miles I arrived home with 22% battery. But on that trip, I was better at exiting out the passenger door and leaving the car on. If you exit the car as normal you will reset the state of charge to your current level. So, say you have Rex running and pull in for gas and are at 53% SOC, but you turned Rex 'on' at 55%. If you exit as usual you are forced to start at the current SOC vs having the Rex try to get the SOC back to 55%. So over fill ups and being down in the charge cycle, you can eat away a little bit charge on each fill up, which are numerous on a 640 trip. Hopefully makes sense.

Just got the letter today from BMW. What exactly does this update do? I don't want to waste another $100 to re-code my i3 if the update doesn't really do much.
