BMW has announced that the BMW i8 Protonic Frozen Black Edition will have its world premiere at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. It will feature BMW Individual Protonic Frozen Black paint finish and a bespoke interior. Later in 2017, BMW i will also launch the BMW i8 Protonic Frozen Yellow Edition, giving customers another way to experience electrically-powered BMW driving experience with added exclusivity.

The i8 with its futuristic sports car styling looks particular comfortable in fetching bright colors, such the Individual colored versions offered by Abu Dhabi BMW.

Through January 2017, BMW has sold 4,464 i8 in the U.S.

Black is nice. Yellow is taxicab-ish.

Ehh, no need for a new design. the only thing it needs is a new read end because it feels like the designers gave up when they reached the rear end. Other than that it's beautiful.

I wonder if BMW USA plans to delete the special seat and floor mat changes on these Special Editions like they did on the red one?? I still have yet to get an explanation for why they did that. But it probably partly explains why so many of the Protonic Red ones are still for sale everywhere...

+1 on Singapore grey. Very curious to see the frozen black in person. The photos are so processed - makes it hard to fully appreciate what it will really look like.

Wow, BMW going to offer colors to their palette as special editions? They really think this will boost sales? These aren't even good or really desirable colors. How about a i8S or i8CSi or something with a higher output motor and/or battery cell.

I like the frozen black. The yellow not so much on this car.

I requested BMW to make a Frozen Black version and they did, it looks awesome no wallpaper I mean plastic wrap for me. Hopefully they will offer it in the other frozen colors. The yellow looks like a cheap Corvette.

The i8 is a great marketing showcar for the i brand, more colours is fine.
But the rumors about the smaller sibling, the i3 - keeps going on about a sportier version.
One would think/hope, if the i3 get's a power bump, so should the flagship - the i8.
Having said that, i happen to love yellow, so i have a new screensaver now, it's a start.

They can at least upgrade the batteries and deliver higher output and sell it as an accessory to increase range like they did ok the i3
