Saw beautiful production BMW i8 Roadster -- On display at BMW Championship

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
BMW is showing the production i8 Roadster at the BMW Championship golf tournament in Lake Forrest IL... behind walls, hiding from public and cell phones, with a search to enter.

Beautiful "eCopper" color ... Interior: new upgrade multicontour seats, Windows still do not go all the way down :-(

If you at the golf event.. go look''

More details from ChiTownM who also saw the i8 Roadster:

I saw it yesterday and spoke to the BMW bulldog watching the car.....only 2 in the world so far. There will be a bump in HP and the battery capacity, range etc. is increasing. It will have the new iDrive. All specs to be released by the LA Autoshow. I have to say that it looked way better and different than the pics we have see so far. The roof comes out behind the seats and you lose the rear seats obviously. The color was amazing. Doors still swing upwards.

All the tech and power changes apply to the coupe as well. So as a 2014 early adopter we will see further devaluation I suppose.......oh well ? and keep on driving.

Were you able to get any info on technical specs that might have changed from the coupe?

That's the most encouraging news I've heard in a while concerning the upgrades for the coupe, which is the model I intend to buy. The improvements you mentioned hit the major upgrades I was interested in, so coupled with the ED option, I expect to be ordering one around December 1 (start of the LA Auto Show) with target delivery in Spring/Summer.

I'm also curious to know if the roadster had a different set of wheels from the two options currently available on the coupe (W and Turbine). I understand the roadster that has been shown is painted a bronze color. Any word on other new exterior colors that might be available in 2018?

I'm going to a second reveal of the Roadster, in London in 2 weeks. If there is no NDA this time, I will be able to answer these questions easily.

What did you think of the look of the new wheels? I've never been thrilled with the existing OEM ones, so am hoping for an attractive upgrade, without necessarily going to custom wheels.

Garage List
I12 BMW i8  [0.00]
F13 BMW M6  [0.00]
Is the space where the rear seats used to be still usable for storing things when the roof is up? This is what I currently use mine for anyways since they?re basically torture for anyone over 5?8?.

If it was shorter then only by a bit. It is possible but could also have seemed like it since the roof was down and therefore the proportion looked different to the coupe. The front interior is the same, no rear seats or storage space it seems. I did not see it with the top up, only top down, and it looked very good, with the top fully stored or covered......

I wonder if the i8 S roadster will be presented alongside the normal version, since the i8s coupe seems to be around the corner?

I've seen the roadster at BMW's "The reveal" event in Belgium
(the X2 was also shown without camouflage)

Bump in hp and range, eCopper color, existing i8 get's renamed i8 coupe.
A silver panel with "Roadster" engraved at the place behind the window (hofmeister kink place)
