OTA 11/2022.44 just landed (ymmv)
Tickle me pink but this just popped up on my watch. Pretty quick download (despite what the photo says) and now preparing to install on the car :-) Looks like OTA is working after all :-)

I heard that you need 11/2022.XX installed to enable the OTA. Apparently, my 7/2022 won't get it.

The option is definitely there inside the vehicle when you have 11/2022.44.

Cool! What does it say under “New features and improvements” for 44?
I will see our M60 has any updates available when we get home from Aus.

At some point in December, the car stopped letting me check for updates and actually had a message displayed saying that OTA updates were currently not available for my car and that I had to go to the dealer to get updated. This may have coincided with when my car was included in the latest recall because not long after that message started displaying, I happened to check and there was a recall on the car. The recall required updating the car to 11/2022 so now I am on that and the car can once again search for updates. |

My phone got the update but when I ask my vehicle to update it says it’s up to date. I’m 7/2022. So I have to make an appointment at the dealership to update? How long does that take at the dealership? Can I wait and have it done in thirty or is it one of those situations where like all other appointments we are talking about several hours where they inspect everything else and bog down the time needed?

Software 7/2022 does not appear to be able to OTA to 11/2022 software.
You will have to leave the car. Depending on how smooth the update goes, it can be 3-36 hours. |

Lame. Doesn’t seem worth the hassle yet to drop off the vehicle for the update.

Consider this: the previous update did not allow OTA to function, so there’s no way to avoid a trip to the dealer. What they should’ve done was make this known to the dealers upfront. transparency is everything.

If you're interested in the in-car OTA experience here is a short video showing it:
The process took about 22 mins on our M60 (from 11/2022.30 -> 44)

My iX, which was running 07/2022 (or whatever version it was delivered with back in July) just prompted me to update to 11/2022.44 tonight, OTA. That process just completed successfully, so it appears that a trip to the dealer is definitely not required!

That is good news, there was some thinking that OTA required 11/2022.xx beforehand, but that is clearly not the case.

Very good news! I am also on 07/2022 and have a service appointment on Feb 1. Maybe I don't have to go after all.

The poster is in Canada. For some reason most USA iX customers are not getting OTA. I had my 11/2022.44 done in person last week, and my amazing Service Advisor said so far, only i4 getting OTA.

I am already on 11/2022.44, but I did try the “check for update” from within the vehicle yesterday and it did look for one, but of course there is not one available yet. At least it “appears” to work now. I guess we’ll find out soon enough when the next release comes out…

BMW’s policy is so confusing sometimes. And I don't mind going to the dealer for the update. I just don't wanna make the trip cause I'm so lazy lol.
