Problem solved - center vents blowing on my hands
One thing I don't like about the i4, and I guess the G20 generally, is the positioning of the center vents. I like to have the air blowing onto my face (I'm just over 6'), but not onto my hands. The relatively low positioning of the vents (they are inline with the roundel on the steering wheel, where in most BMWs they are about 0.8" above), I expect to allow positioning of the center display, means that when I angle the vents to blow on my face, they hit my hands first. It's very distracting,
I tried to minutely position them blowing higher, but either they missed my face entirely, or I was left with still some feeling on my hands, especially when I turned the wheel. My solution? Cross the vent direction. So the right center vent is pointed to the left, and the left center vent, to the passenger. This way, my hands are not blown upon. Strangely, I thought the airflows would cancel each one out and blow straight back, but they don't. There is some turbulence causing some air to blow down towards the shifter area, but it is small. So now I feel some air on my face, but none on my hands! |
