Makes sense, BMW has just been vague about what actually is part of the i4 package. It doesn't indicate larger brakes, just 33t, which can be different depending on series/model.
The larger brakes could possibly be the other reason why going from 18 to 19" wheels is seems to only be a 25 mile range hit on the edrive40, but going from 19 to 20" is almost double the range hit on the M50 because of the heavier brake hardware.
