It is all about removing barriers for adoption. The EV enthusiasts rushed to buy - they even paid over MSRP. That gave everyone a false sense of demand. There will be 60 new EV models going on sale in the next 2 years in the US. Competition will be brutal.

When has BMW before offered $24,500 off their flagship vehicle weeks after launching it?
It’s sounds like they were incredibly optimistic and got ahead of themselves on supply

And now they need to move the inventory to make room for new arrivals
