Short trips? I actually regularly make the 650 mile round trip to Vegas on the weekends, because I love driving the M50. And yes, I set the cruise control at 85mph, and go up from there. No one passes me on the trip. When we stop to charge, we want to stop for a break and a snack anyways.

Don't know why you would call BMW wagons a joke. They are basically the same chassis as the sedan. They also make an M3 and M5 wagon. They are plenty sporty.

EVs instant torque is something you use and feel, every time you drive it. The fact that you can have over 500HP in an 90MPGe EV is amazing. Again, if I had the choice of being noisy and slow compare to silent and fast, I would take the later every time.

Look at the 22 Goodwill Festival Of Speed, where new records were set. The fastest cars were EVs, and are anything but boring.
