I4 level 2 charging issue with BMW wallbox
Hello: I have an interesting problem. I have a I4 eDrive40 and use a BMW Wallbox to charge at home with no problem for a year. Last week on 5/9/2024 we had a new car software download. Starting on 5/10/2024 the wallbox would not charge the car.
Thinking it could be the car we took the car to the dealership on 5/11/2024. They could not duplicate the problem. They tried it on multiple chargers there and had no problem. They concluded it must be the wallbox. We then took the car home and used the occasional charger plugged into a 110V outlet and the car charges fine, very slow but it charged.
Next, thinking it was the wallbox we contacted the parts department at the dealership and got a new wallbox, both wallboxes are model number BMW 61 90 5 A1E 1B3. We set the internal DIP switches to the correct settings for our home and the second wallbox did not work either, we tried multiple DIP switch settings and none worked.
Details of the problem. Wallbox is working fine, blue light on, before connecting. The car charging port is fine before connection, light is white. When I plug the charging cable into the car, I hear a click on the wallbox, the light on the car charging port blinks blue and the wallbox blinks blue. This is the normal charging state. After approximately 60 seconds the wallbox clicks off, the led on the wallbox turns to a steady blue. The light on the car charging port blink red three times and repeats.
Does anyone else have this problem? Could it be the software upgrade? How do i fix? I am stuck on slow charge until it is fixed!!!!
