Have some error codes from the SME. Finally got a hold of someone at BMW who was able to get a hold of the service manager (who refused to speak to me directly). And they told me that they could diagnose the problem starting at $615 and let me know what they find... By the time it’s all said and done, probably looking at a $2500 fee for doing a stupid EOS test that gives me a 12 digit code. There are several people on the open inverter forum that have hacked the "safety box" on the I series cars to manually open the contactors so I'll just wait a bit and see who can come up with a reasonable solution. The problem is that the I8's are rare and nobody has done it yet.
