High-end ceramic tints have heat rejection similar to the metallic layer in the windshield. It's pretty freaking easy to measure and has been objectively measured many times over.
Lower- and mid-grade tints that only use pigmentation for tinting have almost no heat rejection. That may be your prior experience.
