Dash cams or more specifically, body worn cams, are good and bad. They are great in terms of combatting claims of mistreatment, force overreach, etc. They are absolutely horrible in terms of privacy violations (...
they record 24/7, even when they aren't "activated", so anything you say to your partners in private, on a telephone while wearing one, etc. is subject to be heard, at least for a period of time), causing officer hesitation, making hindsight judgments on fluid, rapidly evolving situations, etc. I would rather NOT have them.
