Thank you for your response. In Australia they're legal and sometimes used to prove/disprove you did/didn't do something. It does record speed, which is interesting, and I wonder if it can be turned off for... "track days".

But it does seem a chunky device and I'm not certain how the rear camera could be mounted or used? Something to talk to the BMW people about. Also, not certain how reversible it is if I don't like it.
