Actually, that IS exactly the difference - if your boss gives you a reprimand and you don't think you deserve it, you can sue. Not so for NFL players, they have a CBA that they agreed to, and that gave Goodell very broad powers to impose whatever punishment he sees fit for whatever real or perceived infraction he deems was committed. That is the fault of the players themselves. As I recall, they were locked out and caved during the last negotiations, I guess they really missed those paychecks.
