Many thanks for this - very complete reply and you have ticked all the question boxes I had . I am worried about idjits driving around me and often far too close to me from behind . I already got reared ended in slow city centre traffic by a young lady driver - luckily only bummer damage but it cost about €3k to fix - paid for by her insurance co. I had a somewhat similar problem of being tail gated over the years in my Carreras , but for some reason the problem seems worse in the I8 - perhaps increased curiosity ?
It does indeed look quite big in the rear view mirror and I note the way you have offset it to the rear . I think I tend to use the side mirrors quite a bit more than the rear view in practice but you have given me plenty of food for thought .
