Long term.
The last new vehicle I bought was my 2000 Toyota Tundra 4x4 (19 years ago) and still drive it when I need to haul something or go on rough/slick roads. Since then I bought a used '95 M3 and drove it over 10 years before I bought the 2008 335i that I have been driving for the past 4+ years. All of my vehicles including my wife's '14 Honda CR-V (also bought used) have >100,000 miles. The '95 M3 has ~186,000 miles. The one and only car payment I had was ~30 years ago when I bought my first new vehicle when I graduated college and had a job offer in hand. I paid that off in <1 year.
