I just spoke to a contact I have at BMWNA and while he didn't have definitive info on the hold, he indicated from his past experience that a "release" hold is to ensure the cars are delivered around the same time, an explanation consistent with what we've heard on this blog. Of course, this doesn't explain how Carac's car has had the hold removed.
