I'm in the SF Bay Area. Here Arco has Top Tier. I've been filling at Arco for 5 years now and no problems at all. Costco is Top Tier in our area too. So for me, Top Tier is the answer and Costco and Arco generally have the best prices. Right now Costco is $3.05 for premium and my closest shell station is $4.03. At a 98 cent per gallon difference (extreme, its usually about 50 cents per gallon more), I'm going to Arco which is just as convenient.
For those who say you own a BMW so you shouldn't worry about gas price. I don't. I just worry about getting completely screwed and try to avoid it when I can. Its simply a matter of principle.
