Don't try to learn how to use a chainsaw on your own to save a few bucks; not the most high-tech thing, but they really can bite you very hard. I'd ask around to find the guy who wants to take it away for firewood (around here they leave their info at the hardware store bulletin boards, tack up signs, etc - not hard to find s/b).
