It is a BMW. My first three BMWs all went 200k+ miles with no major repairs. This one, however, managed a coolant leak (I suspect a tyro tech filled coolant level not knowing he needed to do so under vacuum...), resulting in BMW putting a brand new engine and coolant system in at their expense. This may be a lifetime car for me, I have not seen anything I would trade it for.
My way of suggesting you not fear a mere 40k miles on yours. It is hardly broken in.
