I drove my car for the entire morning to run my errands. Turned off, locked, and started the car back up many times. Some observations:
- iDrive will remember the last setting
- The malfunction will appear only when first turned off. If you leave it off and restart the car, the malfunction light will go away, but feature will still be off
- Reverse will still have a small sound, but barely noticible. In drive it will sound like any other pre-VSG i3.
Here are all my VSG and relevant NBT settings, you need to code both NBT and VSG.
VSG/3000/Start-up Sound -> yes
VSG/3000/VSG Configuration 7_7_15 -> aktiv
VSG/3000/Wave File -> Wave File 4
HU_NBT/3001/VSG_HMI_MENUE -> aktiv
