I don't think they were ever against a dedicated platform - instead it was more of how can they control costs and balance both electric and ICE production
today. Eventually everyone is going to go electric so whatever was previously said by BMW should not be taken literally.
With that said, I'm excited to see what the final product brings - the i4 is something I will be seriously considering to either replace the F36 or have in alongside it.
