I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way.
I understand the benefits of social media but feel it is far outweighed by the downsides. Social media is basically a tool that capitalizes on the inherent flaws of human psychology. We are an emotion-driven species and thus, many of the most basic and most vapid/shallow emotions are exploited and frankly rewarded by this tool.
Attention seeking, virtue signaling/moral superiority, outrage, etc. All basic human emotions which were better controlled, or shall I say less rewarded, by society before the social media age. Most millennials and obviously the younger generation don't know of a world without all this nonsense.
I still remember high school so well as it wasn't even 10 yrs ago, but it's crazy to think of how much has changed in the world since then! Even when I started undergrad most of this shyt besides Facebook wasn't around.
