The cars are completely different. The Aston is a brute force approach to a sports car with questionable quality (I have seen many with deformed dash after sitting in the sun, etc.) but some of the most beautiful cars there are (excl. the Rapide that seems to have been designed by the janitor while the designer was on vacation or sick in the hospital).
The i8 is a demonstration of what technology can do. It is hardly an emotional drive. Nice to look at but no where near the Vantage. More an engineer's car than a gentleman's.
