I seriously doubt F1 cars will get rid of pedals, at least in our lifetime. The steering wheel is already full of different buttons and switches, along with the various paddles on the back. There's arguably too many controls on the steering wheel as it is.

From the perspective of efficiency and workload, it wouldnt make sense to move the pedal controls onto the steering wheel. That would be adding to how much the driver has to do on the steering wheel and leaving their legs useless for the race. It just doesnt make sense. And dont forget how often the drivers change settings on the steering wheel. Having the brake and throttle mounted on the steering wheel would limit how often they can make changes without "letting off" the gas/brake.

F1 is all about efficiency and the best use of what you have. There is no measurable benefit (at least that I can see) for them to move these controls to the steering wheel.

I mean, just look at this thing!
