i4 uses blended brakes so no way to tell from the driver perspective. bmw does not provide information on regen vs physical brake application regardless of the mode used.
from my personal experience, I drove B mode only for a week with less than 10 brake pedal application. however my wheels (more on the rears) were covered with brake dust so the physical brakes are definitely used in B mode.
