Interesting. I've been told in my area of SoCal (San Gabriel Valley), it's fairly uncommon to get stopped and ticketed for the missing front plate. In my case, I never mounted the front plate on my 550i and haven't been stopped in over 3 years. Apparantly it is very common to get a ticket for it if one is stopped for another reason, but rare that they will actually pull you over because of the missing plate.
