Then you have lobbies... some speed limit do not make sense at all.
You have the "Speed kills" let's reduce it again and again and again.
There are several experiment of no speed limit. People end up adjusting their speed to the conditions themselves and less accidents.
We have cars that are safer, brake faster and handle better, but yet, we still lower speed limits.
I say let's train the drivers better...
