You said there is a hole. This sounds like carpenter bees. You can determine this definitively by sitting quietly in the area when the bees are present, for example in the evening. The crunching sound is very noticeable when they are in the holes. They are chewing the wood, which is your dwelling.
Kill them.
I defeated carpenter bees after 6-8 full cans of bee killing foam sprayed every few days over the course of a few weeks.
Total war must be declared. Kill them all.
