A major issue so many like to forget when speculating about BMW new models is, BMW doesn’t make “full M” full size vehicles. To make a full M version in a full size luxury vehicle, they will ruin the sole purpose of these large luxury vehicles with a incredibly harsh ride. In the end you get a full size vehicle that does nothing well. It’s a series of compromises that go too far and harsh. This is why BMW established a real genuine M light versions like the M50i still listed under the M brand and not an M performance package like they use to do. They put the “M” on the back of the car like the M760. BMW obviously knew they needed a performance vehicle that still had a luxurious ride when they made this switch in 2020 with the X5/X7 M50i, M850i, M550i, etc…line. Just look at how BMW positioned the M50 line when building a car on their virtual builder. It’s sends a clear message they are pushing the entire M50 line to the “M” side of the designation yet still offer a “M-Performance” trim line for the rest of the line.
I don’t believe the X8 will ever be designed to have anything more than the established M50i top performance level.
