Are you buying the M3 for your wife? That's really and truly awesome of you.
However, seeing the kinds of things that she is looking for, may we suggest a 328i or something of the sort for her? Maybe a nice Audi A5, Mercedes-Benz C300, lots of other choices for her out there. i drove a 328i rental once, and the steering wheel was nice and thin. Superb.
