I would suggest reading some of the threads on
http://www.teslamotorsclub.com/ if you are seriously considering a Model S. The car is good, but it also has its problems. Even though it's in theory simpler than typical ICE cars, there are many reports of drivetrain failures. Also, Tesla is a very young company, so it does suffer from some quality issues that are not generally not seen in cars at this price range.
