See that's exactly what I was thinking...a factory boosted engine can always use a little more air, trust me there's no way these cars are leaving the factory fully tuned to the edge. It's too risky for the factory. So I've got to find a reputable tuner that's already done this preferably to more than one i8.
As far as the electric motor, that would take another category of tuner that really doesn't exist or a least the fact of tuning a hybrid drive outside of the factory updates hasn't been fully explored. But I do believe that the i8 is one of if not THE car that will bring that tuner to the front because it is only technology and can be improved updated and custom programmed as real world experience is gained.
