$1 million for speeding in Sweden

Ouch!

Quote:
Switzerland: $1 Million Fine For Driving His Mercedes SLS AMG At 180 MPH

The owner of a Mercedes SLS AMG was caught by the speed trap of the Swiss police driving with not less than 180 mph, on a road where the speed limit was 75 mph. The driver got his car impounded until he will pay the fine: $1 million.

Switzerland became one of the European countries with the biggest fines for the undisciplined drivers. The proof is a recent case, registered on the highway linking Berna of Luassane.

A Mercedes SLS AMG was caught by police’s speed trap with a speed of 180 mph, way over the limit in that area, of only 75 mph. The 105 mph difference brought to a fine that you would hardly imagine, because, in Switzerland, the value of the fine is directly proportional with the income of the blamed one.

So, in these conditions, the owner of the German supercar will have to pay a fine that raises to $1 million, almost three times the value of the car. The police wanted to be sure that the owner, aged 37, will pay the ticket, so they impounded the SLS AMG copy.
